Book Club | BooksWelcome to the Rosicrucian Book Salon / Book Club Wiki!

The Rosicrucian Book Salon is a Book Discussion Club which meets once a month, usually on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:00 am at the Research Library at Rosicrucian Park in San Jose, CA (USA). This is one of the functions of the Rose-Croix University International. Occasionally the Salon will move to another Saturday for Holidays and Special Events. The dates will be posted here The dates will be posted here in the Current Book Pick and Meeting Details and Complete Book List pages.

The Salon focuses on reading and discussing novels* which have mystical, spiritual and esoteric themes, content, and ideas. In this online venue, we invite participants to read the novel that the Book Salon has chosen for each month, and to post thoughts, comments, etc. about the Novel in the Monthly Forums in the Discussion Tabs above.

In addition, we invite remote participants to participate in a Skype-based Teleconference for the Book Salon's live discussions on the posted Saturday from 10:00 am - 11:30 am Pacific Time
Please join us in reading these interesting and thought-provoking novels. It will also focus our mystical energies as more and more Rosicrucians and other seekers read and consider the same book each month. If you begin to notice effects in your meditations, dreams, etc., please share this with the group in the Forums!

If you have any questions, Please email Juanita Ortiz at jortiz@rosicrucian.org or call her at 408-947-3695.

Welcome!

New! In addition to the Book Club, now enjoy our new Rosicrucian Interactive Site!

* The Book Salon participants have learned from experience that novels, short stories and other forms of fiction are more conducive to productive discussions. Non-fiction can be wonderful, however, we have found that the discussions about fiction are far more enlivening and coducive to sharing. Participants are encouraged to recommend non-fiction works on the themes of the current novel in the disussion Forums on each book.

This is our central meeting place online, where we can talk about the current book selection, learn about our meetings, and nominate new books.

Following up on last week's book club, wanted to recommend two stories - The Silver Key and Through the Gates of the Silver Key from the collection "Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath" by H. P. Lovecraft. These two short stories feature the same character, Randolph Carter, a surprising plot twist, and more metaphysical themes (Carter enters the final portal in the ultimate unknowable realm).

    Enjoy!

Who should play the Characters when and if this book is made into a movie? While reading the book I kept on thinking of Ralphe Fiennes as the character of Malk Kuth but I realize he's probably too old to realistically portray the character. Who would play the part of Sato? Peter and Katherine? Bellamy? What do you guys think?

Just finished reading the book and can't wait to get started on the next installment....I'm so happy I joined the book club! Unfortunately my work schedule doesn't work with the discussions but I intend to keep up with the literature.
